Side Effects Of Eating Too Many Avocados
(1) Not So Suitable For Pregnant And Nursing Mothers
Although avocados are very well loaded with vitamins and minerals still it is not suitable for pregnant and nursing mothers, and they should avoid avocados completely.
This is because avocados are known for reducing milk production and can even cause damage to the mammary gland. If a breastfeeding mother consumes avocado then it can upset the stomach of the baby.
As an unborn baby and a newborn baby get all its nutrition from his mother so it becomes highly risky to consume avocados during pregnancy and nursing stage, and should be avoided.
(2) Not Suitable For People With Hypersensitivity
Consuming avocados are not at all suitable for individuals who are suffering from hypersensitivity.
As per Wikipedia, Hypersensitivity is a set of undesirable actions produced by the normal immune system, including allergies and autoimmunity.
Consumption of avocados by people suffering from hypersensitivity can cause skin reactions in them, and in some cases, it may even cause vomiting.

Avocados are a nutritious fruit that provides a lot of health and beauty benefits and is loaded with a number of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, flavonoids, etc. However, there are some individuals who are allergic to avocados and they should stay away from avocados completely.
Not only consumption but even exposure to avocados may trigger allergic reactions in them and for this reason, they are advised to not to use avocados even for skin and hair care. Some of the major symptoms of avocados allergy are hives, itching, eczema, etc.

Just like Avocado fruit, avocado oil is also very beneficial for our health and for this reason people have started adding it to their recipe. There is nothing bad in this but while doing so it should be remembered that the avocado oil you are using doesn’t contain estragole and anethole in them. These are the elements that are found in some avocado oil ( like Mexican avocado oil) and have been tested for carcinogenic reactions.
Consuming avocado oil rich in estragole and anethole may cause liver damage. So, if you want to keep your liver healthy then it is better to avoid avocado oil containing estragole and anethole. In general, avocados are beneficial for our heart and the presence of Glutathione (An antioxidant) in it helps in filtering out unwanted substances from our liver and keep it healthy (source).
However, it is advisable to consume avocados in moderation to maintain a healthy liver and if you are already suffering from a liver problem, then it is better to consult with your doctor about the same and eat avocado only as per his recommendation.
(6) Not Suitable For Individuals With Latex Sensitivity
Avocados are not suitable for individuals who are sensitive to latex and these individuals should avoid consuming avocados completely. This is because avocados increase the level of serum IgE antibodies in our body and this may cause allergic reactions in the individuals with latex sensitivity.
(7) Reduces Cholesterol Level ( Even HDL Cholesterol)
Avocados are very beneficial for reducing cholesterol level from our body. As bad cholesterol is responsible for causing many cardiovascular problems like heart attack, heart stroke, irregular heartbeat, atherosclerosis, etc. so, by reducing cholesterol level avocados protects us from the cardiovascular problem which is an advantage.
However, this advantage can turn into a disadvantage when avocados are consumed in large quantity. This is because avocados are rich in Beta-sitosterol. Beta-sitosterol absorbs bad cholesterols and provides a lot of benefits, but when they are in excess in our body, then they start absorbing good cholesterol ( HDL cholesterol) which is a necessary cholesterol for our body and is needed for a lot of functions like removal of bad cholesterol, maintains inner wall of the blood vessels, etc (source).
(8) Can Cause Mouth Allergy
Too much of avocados is bad even for our mouth as consuming avocados in a large quantity may cause allergic reactions like itching sensation in the mouth and swelling of the tongue.
(9) May Cause Blood Thinning
Avocados are rich in Vitamin K and this makes them very beneficial for the people with blood clots. However, it is important to eat avocados in moderation as too much of avocados may make our blood so thin that it may give rise to bleeding and bruising.
In the same way, if you are already on a blood thinning medication, then it will be better to avoid avocados as avocados may interfere with the medicines and may cause bleeding and bruising.
(10) Too Much Fiber Is Bad
Avocados are very rich in dietary fibers and consuming 100 grams of avocados can provide around 7 grams of dietary fiber ( which is around 25 percent of the daily fiber requirement on the basis of a 2000 calories diet). These dietary fibers are very beneficial for our stomach, regulates bowel movement and ensures proper elimination of waste from our body and thus provides relief from constipation and keeps our digestive system healthy.
However, too much fiber is bad and may give rise to problems like upset stomach, diarrhea, bloating, gastrointestinal irritation, etc. For this reason, it is advisable to consume avocados in moderation. We also get dietary fibers from other food sources and it is better to keep this in mind.
(11) May Lead To Weight Gain
Avocados are an excellent source of dietary fibers and consuming 100 grams of avocados provides around 7 grams of dietary fibers. The presence of dietary fibers make them very beneficial for weight loss as the dietary fibers present in avocados keep our stomach satisfied for longer and decreases our urge to eat, again and again, controls overeating and thus provides relief from obesity.
However, it should be remembered that avocados are high in calories and 100 grams of avocados provides around 160 calories of energy ( in comparison to 60-80 calories of energy provided by typical fruits), and consuming too much of avocados may promote weight gain.
So, if you are thinking of losing weight consuming avocados then make sure that you eat this fruit in limited quantity as too much of it will further increase your weight and may give rise to other problems too.
(12) Risk Of High Potassium Level
Avocado is a good source of vital nutrient potassium that provides a lot of health benefits. It is required for keeping our kidneys healthy, for maintaining proper fluid balance in our body, for maintaining nerve functions, for keeping our heart healthy and for a lot of other benefits. As avocados contain potassium so consuming them provides us with a healthy dosage of potassium.
However, it is important to maintain a healthy potassium level in our body as both too much potassium and too low potassium level is bad for our health. Too high potassium level in our body may give rise to dehydration, type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, internal bleeding, etc.
Some of the common symptoms of high potassium level are like fatigue, numbness feeling, nausea, vomiting, breathing problems, chest pain skipped a heartbeat, etc (source).
