Eggplant (Solanum melongena) , Brinjal, Aubergine are the various name of the same thing. It is a species of nightshade grown for its edible fruit. In general, it is known as a vegetable but botanically speaking eggplant is a fruit. It is a native to India but is now grown in many regions of the world. Being one of the most unliked vegetables ( especially among children) it is not given proper importance but the reality is that eggplants are great and provides a lot of health benefits because of the number of nutrients like vitamins,minerals,antioxidants, dietary fibers etc. present in them. Eggplant is a great source of dietary fibers and, the presence of these fibers make eggplant very beneficial for our stomach and helps in keeping our digestive system healthy.The dietary fiber aids in regulating the bowel movement as it loose stool and ensures proper elimination of waste out of the body and thus provide relief from constipation. The fiber present in eggplant also plays an important role in maintaining the gastrointestinal health of a person as they stimulate the gastric juice secretion which facilitates the absorption of nutrients in our body.
